These minutes were approved as read at the July 9, 2012 Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board of Trustees

Monday, June 11, 2012

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held June 11, 2012 at 9:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Doris Frye called the meeting to order at 9:07am.

Members present were:

Doris Frye, President

Vice President, Hal Geltmacher

Sharon Barret, Secretary

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Trustee Eva Cooper and Gerda Fitts were absent; attendance was taken via the expense voucher. 

The minutes from the May meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the meeting minutes, Hal Geltmacher made a motion to approve as presented, Sharon Barrett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her Administrator’s Report.  She reported that the Story Hours with the Preschool and local Head Start groups continued.  She noted that the summer programming for the Library had begun with the Parasol Puppets as the first event, with 20 people in attendance.  Coulsell reported that the Library would host a Patron Appreciation Day on June 23, 2012 with refreshments and a Kindle drawing and door prize giveaway.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for May.  The balance as of June 11, 2012 was $108,164.38 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.  After hearing the Financial Reports for May, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the report as presented.  Hal Geltmacher seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Library’s Circulation Reports for May.  There were 16 new cards issued with a Total Circulation for the month was 3410. 

Under President’s Report—there was none.

Under Library Association Report, Library Association President Sharon Barrett reported that the Annual Association meeting would be in August with an election of officers and financial reports.

Under Friends there was none.

Under Old Business, the Board discussed the status of this year’s Equalization funds, Administrator Coulsell reported that four new computers had been ordered for public use and a new Canon 2030 copier/fax/printer had been ordered and was in place.

Under New Business, President Frye heard from the nominating committee.  The nominating committee presented a slate of officers for the 2012-2013 term as follows:

Hal Geltmacher-President

Sharon Barrett-Vice-President

Treasurer-Gerda Fitts

Secretary-incoming appointed member

Trustee-Eva Cooper

After hearing the slate of officers, Hal Geltmacher made the motion to accept the 2012-2013 officers as presented, Sharon Barrett seconded, all in favor and the motion carried unanimously.

President Doris Frye noted that she would not be re-applying for the Library Board.

Also under New Business, the Board discussed the Library’s copier.  Hal Geltmacher made the motion to declare the Canon 3170 copier as salvaged material, Sharon Barrett seconded and the motion carried unanimously.  The Board discussed donating the copier to another charitable organization, after much discussion, Hal Geltmacher moved to donate the Canon 3170 copier to the Hickory County C.A.R.E.S. Food Pantry. Sharon Barrett seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.

Also under New Business, the Board discussed the Library Administrator’s compensation. Hal Geltmacher moved to commiserate salary with the Administrator’s duties.  Sharon Barrett seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

The next meeting is to be July 9, 2012 at 9:00am

Having no further business and hearing no public comment the meeting adjourned at 9:47am.
