OCTOBER 14, 2013 MEETING OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Monday, September 9. 2013
The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held August 12, 2013 at 10:00am in the Hickory
County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:15am.
Members present were:
President, Hal Geltmacher
Treasurer Gerda Fitts
Secretary, Judy Baker
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Trustee Eva Cooper was absent. Also in attendance was Library Assistant Manager Tina Davis. The attendance was taken
via the expense voucher.
The minutes from the August
meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the minutes, Gerda Fitts moved to accept the minutes as presented, Sharon Barrett seconded.
All in favor and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave the Administrator’s report for August. She reported
that the Library’s summer programming had came to a close with the final program on August 31, 2013 finishing with Parasol
Puppets of Rolla, Missouri. She noted that this had been the most well attended year for children’s
summer programs in a number of years. She reported that she was investigating some adult programs to be
planned before the end of this year. Coulsell noted that she would continue story hours with the area Head
Start students and Preschool students, now that the new school year had begun. Administrator Coulsell reported
that she had begun compiling information to plan the budget for the 2014 fiscal year.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for August.
The balance as of September 9, 2013 was $69,337.48 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.
After hearing the Financial Reports for August, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the report as presented.
Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The Library’s Circulation Report was presented by Tina Davis for August. There were 35 new cards
issued with a Total Circulation for August of 4494. The e-book circulation rose again in August to 260
check-outs. Also recording a high for the year were the Video and Internet usage categories.
Coulsell and Davis attributed the rise in e-book circulation to the addition of the OverDrive Advantage subscription
that the Library now offers.
Report-there was none. President Hal Geltmacher did report that he would be joining the West Central Community
Action regional board taking the position formerly held by Lance Hutton.
Under Association Report-there was none.
Friends—Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell reported on behalf of the Friends that the annual Friends of the Library
book sale would be held October 14th through October 19th. She also noted that the
Friends had a booth at the Wheatland Harvest Festival.
Old Business—the board discussed the remaining Equalization budget. Making plans to add some new
fixtures and equipment to the Library before year end.
New Business the board discussed recruiting volunteers for the Library. The Board also discussed future
projects for the coming years of the Library.
no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 10:55am
