THESE MINUTES WERE APPROVED AS READ AT THE JUNE 9, 2014 MEETING OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Monday, May 12, 2014

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held May 12, 2014 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

President, Hal Geltmacher

Vice-President, Sharon Barrett

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Secretary, Judy Baker

Trustee,  Eva Cooper

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the travel expense voucher.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Also in attendance was Library Assistant Manager Tina Davis.

The minutes from the April meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the minutes Sharon Barrett moved to accept the minutes as presented, Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave the Administrator’s report for April.  Coulsell noted that May would be the last session of story hours with both Preschool and Head Start, due to school ending for the year, noting that there were a slate of activities planned for the summer.  Administrator Coulsell reported that adult computer classes would resume May 17th classes would be two hours in length and run for eight weeks.  Coulsell is currently investigating cost on health insurance for the full time employees at the Library.  Administrator Coulsell noted that the Library will be closed Monday, May 26th in honor of Memorial Day.  Coulsell reported that a representative from Congresswoman Vicki Hartzler’s office will be at the Library on Thursday, May 29th for a public forum from 4:30 to 5:30pm.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for April.  The balance as of May 12, 2014 was $111,014.03.  This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.  After hearing the Financial Reports for April, Eva Cooper made the motion to accept the report as presented.  Sharon Barrett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

The Library’s Circulation Report was presented by Tina Davis for April.  There were 27 new cards issued with a Total Circulation for April of 3973. 

Under President’s Report—President Hal Geltmacher had conducted a follow-up with a local computer technician regarding the Library’s purchase of security cameras.

Under Association Report—Association President Sharon Barrett noted that the annual payment for the USDA loan had been made and that the annual insurance payment had been made at the beginning of the month.

Under Friends of the Library there was nothing to report

Under Old Business, Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell reported that new computer tables had been purchased and the Library’s security system had been upgraded with the use of State Equalization funds received.  She also noted that the parking lot had been sealed and was scheduled for repair and striping.

Under New Business, Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library had received Third and Fourth Quarter 2014 State Aid Payments.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 10:55am

The Next meeting is to be June 9, 2014 at 10:00am
