OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT

Monday, September 14, 2015

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held September 14, 2015 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

President, Hal Geltmacher

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Secretary, Judy Baker

Trustee, Eva Cooper

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Sharon Barrett moved to add, Library Storage Building to New Business,  Gerda Fitts moved to accept the agenda as presented, Eva Cooper seconded, and the motion carried.

The minutes from the August meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the minutes Eva Cooper moved to accept the minutes as presented, Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave the Administrator’s report.   Coulsell also reported that Bill Arnold had Reading Has Gone to the Dogs stars, Heavenly and Joker in the Wheatland Harvest Festival parade, held Saturday, September 12, 2015.  Arnold was also conducting a Computer Basics course and a Skype Course, each class will run for several weeks. Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell noted that Alyson Lile had joined the Library’s staff in a part time capacity.  Coulsell noted that she had finalized the Technology Grant Report, this grant had provided for the Library to purchase two touch screen computers, Microsoft software and accompanying antivirus software.  This grant was through the Missouri State Library and was through the LSTA grants programs.  Coulsell also reported that she was investigating more energy efficient light fixtures to replace some of the older units in the building.  Coulsell also presented the Board with two thank you notes, one from the Bethel Southern Baptist Church and one from Kirby Jordan.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for August. The balance as of
September 14, 2015 $94,198.71 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.  After hearing the Financial Reports for August, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the report as presented, Eva Cooper seconded, and the motion carried unanimously
.

The Library’s Circulation Report for August was presented by Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell.  The Library had 30 new Library cards.  The total circulation for the month of August was 4024.  Noting the highest circulation for the year in Adult Nonfiction of 1447 checkouts. 

Under President’s Report-Library Board President Hal Geltmacher had nothing to report.

Under Association Report-Association President Sharon Barrett had nothing to report.

Under Friends-It was noted that the Friends of the Library had a booth during the Wheatland Harvest Festival and the booth was successful.  It was also noted that the Friends bi-annual book sale would be held October 14th thru October 17th.

Under Old Business-Coulsell has allocated the remains of the Equalization funds.  Coulsell gave an update on the placement of the building’s water meter would be moved as local backhoe contractor Colter Spradling was available. 

Under New Business-Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library would host an open house in collaboration with the Missouri State Historical Society on October 22nd at 1:00pm to unveil the digitization of 80 years, 1884-1964, of Hickory County newspapers.  This would be a public event. 

Also under New Business, The Board discussed the state of disrepair the Library’s storage shed had fallen to.  Vice-President Sharon Barrett discussed partnering with the Friends of the Library group to share repair or possible replacement costs.  It was discussed to consult Jenkins building material and Hermitage Lumber for pricing information. This item was tabled until further information was made available.

 Hearing no public comment and having no further business.  The meeting adjourned at 10:45am.

The next meeting is to be October 12, 2015 at 10:00am
