Monday, September 11, 2017

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held September 11, 2017 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:16am.

Members present were:

President, Hal Geltmacher

Vice-President, Sharon Barrett

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Secretary, Judy Baker

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Trustee Shelly Aubuchon attended via telephone.  Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Sharon Barrett moved to minutes as read.  Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly report.  Coulsell reported that she had recently completed the Summer Reading Program Survey for the State Library and was compiling information for the State Library Annual Statistical Report.  Noting that all the summer programs had been well attended.  The Library will have one more special performance from Parasol Puppets on October 14, 2017.  Coulsell also reported that the laptops ordered through the Library’s Technology Ladder Grant were in place, and the Library could now offer twelve spaces for adult computer classes and one unit was reserved for the Instructor.  Bill Arnold had begun utilizing the new computer lab on September 5, 2017 teaching a basic adult computer class.  Coulsell noted that the Lightning Lab would continue later that day with the Library’s iPad Lab, Osmo and Ozobot systems.  Computer Instructor Bill Arnold will be continuing his Outreach efforts with the Hickory Estates residents and McCarty Senior Center patrons using the iPads as well.  Coulsell reported that she had been in contact with both the Head Start and Preschool groups and story hours with those groups would resume in October. 

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for August. The balance as of September 11, 2017, was $68,577.86 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.   After hearing the Financial Reports for August, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

 

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for August, the Library had 32 new cards during the month.  Noting the highest overall circulation for the year of 4211.  Highest circulation in Periodicals, Children’s Fiction and Children’s Non-Fiction. 

Under President’s Report there was none.

Under Friends-The Friends of the Library had a presence at the annual Harvest Festival hosting a book sale booth.  The Friends of the Library will host their annual book sale October 11-13, 2017.

Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell reported that three of the salvaged laptops had sold to date.

Under New Business President Hal Geltmacher is composing a letter to State Representative Warren Love to address the issue of street signage already approved by the City of Hermitage and to encourage MODOT to complete the project.  Treasurer Gerda Fitts will discuss with Hermitage Mayor about discussing this item as well.

The next meeting will return to the regularly scheduled third Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00am.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 10:55am.
