NOVEMBER 20, 2017 MEETING OFTHE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES 

Monday, October 16, 2017

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held October 16, 2017 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

President, Hal Geltmacher

Vice-President, Sharon Barrett

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Secretary, Judy Baker

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Sharon Barrett moved to minutes as read.  Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes Sharon Barrett moved to after noting a correction, moved to accept the minutes as presented.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly report.  Coulsell noted that the Library had an October special program for children on Saturday, October 14, 2017, featuring Parasol Puppets of Jamesport, Missouri.  Prior to the performance the Library conducted a craft day, that was sponsored by the Lucas Oil Foundation featuring gourd crafts and hand puppet craft.  Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library would extend regular hours on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 for trick-or-treaters to provide a safe place to visit on Halloween night.  Coulsell that she had recently submitted the Technology Ladder Grant Interim Report to the State Library.  Also reporting that she was nearing completion on the Statistical Report due in to the State Library in November.  The Lightning Labs with co-instructor Bill Arnold would continue every other Monday evening.  Administrator Coulsell also reported that the Preschool and Head Start story hours would resume in October.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for August. The balance as of October 16, 2017 was $48,034.10 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.   After hearing the Financial Reports for September, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for September, the Library had 33 new cards during the month.   Highest circulation in Audio checkouts for the year of 2017. 

Under President’s Report-Library Board President Hal Geltmacher reported that he had submitted a letter to Representative Warren Love in regard to Library street signage.

Under Friends-The Friends of the Library had held a book sale the week of October 9-13, 2017, and reported a successful sale, proceeds from the sale will help to pay the Library’s property insurance in the spring.

Under Library Association-there was none.

Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell reported that she had been in contact with the City of Hermitage regarding MoDOT signage, the Mayor has completed requests for additional signage.

Under New Business-Administrator Coulsell presented the Library’s Quarterly Financial Report.   Gerda Fitts moved to accept the report as presented.  Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Also Under New Business Adminstrator Coulsell presented the 2018 Preliminary Budget, this item was tabled until more information was available.

Hearing no public comment and having no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:50am.

The next meeting will be November 20, 2017 at 10:00am
