March 2020 Regular Monthly Meeting

Monday, March 16, 2020

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held March 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Vice-President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 1:00pm

Members present were:
President Hal Geltmacher, via telephone
Vice-President Shelly Aubuchon
Trustee Traci Brown
Trustee Brenda Charles
Secretary Judy Baker
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda, Brenda Charles moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes from the February Regular meeting. Traci Brown moved to accept the minutes as read. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report. She reported that the Preschool Story Hour continued. Crafts with Chef Jamie had been held on March 14, 2020; the children completed a leprechaun puppet craft. Coulsell reported that she had completed the Annual USDA Report for the Library Association. Coulsell is in the process of booking summer and fall programming. Dianne Morann will return in the fall with a program on Zelda James, mother of Frank and Jesse James.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for February. The balance as of March 16, 2020, was $142,122.09.  This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for February. The Library had 19 new cards during the month, with a Total Circulation 3811.  She noted the Library had closed for one snow day on February 5, 2020.

Under President’s Report - Hal Geltmacher discussed his concerns with the current COVID-19 virus.

Under Library Association - It was noted that the Library would advertise for bids on roof repair.

Under Friends of the Library - It was noted that the Friends of the Library book sale and April Meeting had been postponed.

Under Old Business - There was none.

Under New Business - Traci Brown moved to declare two HP computers and monitors and one RCA television as salvaged material. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried. These items will be taken to an electronic recycler in Springfield, as they no longer function.

Also Under New Business - Administrator Coulsell said the Library Staff had undertaken increased precaution to sanitize returned and checked out library materials, and are sanitizing work and public work stations. The decision was made to postpone community, library and any other special programming held at the Library until further notice. A decision to close due to the recent issue of the COVID-19 virus has not been made at this time.

Having no further business, and hearing no public comment, Brenda Charles moved to adjourn the meeting at 2:30 pm. Traci Brown seconded. Motion carried.

The next meeting is to be April 20, 2020 at 1:00 pm
