OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Monday, April 17, 2017
The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held April 17, 2017 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

After reviewing the agenda Sharon Barrett moved to accept the agenda as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried.
The minutes from the February Regular Meeting and the March Special meeting were reviewed. Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the minutes as presented, Sharon Barrett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her Administrator’s Report—Coulsell reported that longtime staff member MaryAnn Bullimore had passed away and that her memorial services would be held in St. Joseph, Missouri, later in the day on April 17, 2017. The Library has sent a memorial arrangement. Administrator Coulsell noted that the Library had a new volunteer, Debbie Brown, she volunteers on Wednesday mornings. Coulsell reported that the first of this year’s Hickory County Farmer’s Markets would be April 28th, the Library will have a table and offer a craft for children each month. Coulsell reported that she had attending a 3-D printing workshop and basic robotics workshop held in Springfield on April 6, 2017. Coulsell looks to purchase a 3-D printer within the next 18-24 months as prices may become more economical. Coulsell will also begin a series of “Lightbulb Labs” in the early summer, these workshops will center on the Library’s new iPad lab and offer some interactive applications and some basic computer coding. These programs will be aimed toward school age children. Coulsell also presented the Library with two new computer based applications featuring online encyclopedia subscriptions the Library would begin offering through World Trade Press. These programs will be aimed toward school age children. Coulsell is considering updating the library’s website within the next year, this will be a grant project. Coulsell presented the board with a thank-you letter from the Benner family in regard to the Benner Dedication.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for February and March. The balance as of April 20, 2017 was $142,028.44 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Coulsell noted that the Library has received Third and Fourth Quarter 2017 State Aid for $197.05. After hearing the Financial Reports for February and March. Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for February and March, the Library had 60 new cards, in those two months. And an All-Time high check out of 364 e-books checked out and downloaded.
Under President’s Report there was none.
Under Library Association Report-Library Association Treasurer Stacy Coulsell noted that the annual payment was due to the USDA in May and the annual Liability insurance was due in May as well.
Under Friends-it was noted that the Friends had set up a Book Sale table at the Hermitage Dollar General.
Under Old Business- The Library will be purchasing a new outdoor sign and housing this spring. Coulsell has not received an update on the MODOT street signage to date.
Under New Business-Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2016, this report will be submitted to the State Auditor’s Office, County Clerk and State Library this report is due annually by June after the close of the fiscal year. After reviewing the report, Shelly Aubuchon moved to approve the report as presented, Sharon Barrett seconded, all in favor and the motion carried unanimously. Coulsell also presented the First Quarter Fiscal Balance Report for 2017. Gerda Fitts moved to accept the report as presented. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Also under New Business the Board discussed salvaged items. Shelly Aubuchon moved to declare a round 4’ x 2’ foot woodgrain children’s table as salvaged material. Gerda Fitts seconded, and the motion carried. Sharon Barrett moved to declare a red 3’ x 2 ½’ children’s workstation desk as salvaged material, Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried.
Also Under New Business it was noted that the Library will be closed on April 24, 2017 for a Staff Workday.
Hearing no public comment and having no further business the meeting adjourned at 11:00am.
The next meeting will be May 15, 2017 at 10:00am
