OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Monday, December 19, 2016
The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held December 19, 2016 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.
Members present were:

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts
Secretary, Judy Baker
Trustee, Shelly Aubuchon
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.
After reviewing the agenda Sharon Barrett moved to accept the agenda as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried.
The minutes from the November meeting were reviewed. Sharon Barrett moved to accept the minutes as presented, Shelly Aubuchon seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave the Administrator’s report. Coulsell reported that both the Head Start and the Preschool story hours would resume after the first of the New Year. Coulsell reported that she would be meeting with Technology and Resource Consultant Jennifer Thompson of the Missouri State Library regarding this year’s Technology Grant for five iPads. Coulsell noted that the Library would begin offering classes with the new tablets beginning, January 9, 2016. Coulsell reported that Library volunteer Jamie Hennessy had hosted a Children’s Craft day coinciding with a visit from Santa on December 10, 2016. There were twenty children in attendance. Administrator Coulsell also noted there would be one final program for the year, with Mrs. Claus and the Grinch with a holiday Story Hour.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for November. The balance as of
December 19, 2016 was $75,910.11 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Coulsell noted this included tax income for December. After hearing the Financial Reports for November, Judy Baker made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Sharon Barrett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Under President’s Report, Library Board President Hal Geltmacher reported that libraries were making news nationally as victims of hate-crimes and that the Library should continue to strive for equality and optimal service.
Under Library Association, President Sharon Barrett noted that there was a meeting earlier that day, and the Library’s lease payment amount would remain unchanged.
Under Friends-The Friends of the Library held their annual Christmas Party on December 12th.
Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell presented the Board the 2017 Proposed Budget, the new budget reflects a two percent wage increase for Library personnel and Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell. After reviewing the budget, Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the proposed two percent wage increase, Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. Sharon Barrett moved to accept the 2017 Proposed Budget, Gerda Fitts seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Also under Old Business, it was noted, that the Library had been formally notified of a financial gift to be received for the Children’s Library.
Under New Business—Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Library Board with a Children’s Literacy Laboratory Proposal, in the proposal the Library would purchase two new children’s computers, new furnishings to outfit the computers, and an online subscription to ABCmouse for extended children’s literacy programs.
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 11:15am.
