December 2017 Regular Monthly Meeting

OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Monday, December 18, 2017

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held December 18, 2017 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:10am.

Members present were:

Vice-President, Sharon Barrett

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Secretary, Judy Baker

Trustee, Shelly Aubuchon

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Shelly Aubuchon moved to approve the agenda as read. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the minutes as read, Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion was approved unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly report. Coulsell noted that the Library held their December Children’s Craft Day on December 16, 2017. It was a Christmas theme, she noted that Chef Jamie Hennessy continued to work on that project providing a themed snack at each event. This was the one year anniversary of hosting Children’s Craft days, noting that attendance continues to grow. Santa Claus and his number one elf had visited the Library on Saturday the 16th as well, providing each child with a book bag and book. Coulsell also noted that the Library had received many cards thanking the staff for the wonderful service that they provide to community. Coulsell reported that Story Hour with Preschool continued. She also reported that beginning in January the Library would partner with the McCarty Senior Center and Care Connection providing outreach to grandparents fostering their grandchildren in the area. This would include some learning labs, providing resources of children’s programming in the area and providing a classroom situation for the children.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for November. The balance as of December 18, 2017 was $61,772.51 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. This also includes December property tax payments received from the Hickory County Treasurer. After hearing the Financial Reports for November, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for November, the Library had 17 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 3244.

Under President’s Report-Library Board President noted that he had visited with former Board Library Board Member Eva Cooper and she was enjoying her recent retirement and keeping up with current events.

Under Library Association- It was noted that the annual financial report for the Association was due February 28, 2017.

Under Friends-The Friends had hosted a Christmas Brunch on December 11, 2017.

Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell also presented the Proposed Budget for 2018. In the 2018 budget was a line increase for staff hourly and salary wages. Shelly Aubuchon moved to approve a staff hourly and salary employee raise two percent. Gerda Fitts seconded, and the motion carried.

After reviewing the Budget for 2018, Sharon Barrett moved to accept the Budget as presented. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Under New Business- Administrator Stacy Coulsell requested that the Library be closed December 23rd in addition to the December 25th holiday.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment the meeting adjourned at 11:00am.

The next meeting is to be January 22, 2017-as the third Monday falls on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the Library will be closed.
