November 2014 Regular Monthly Meeting

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held November 10, 2014 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

Trustee, Eva Cooper

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Also in attendance was Assistant Manager Tina Davis, attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

The minutes from the October meeting were reviewed, after reviewing the minutes Sharon Barrett moved to accept the minutes as presented, Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave the Administrator’s report. Coulsell reported that the program “Reading Has Gone to the Dogs,” had been well-attended, this program is presented by Library volunteers Bill and Susan Arnold. Coulsell noted that there were several pictures from each session posted on the Library’s Facebook page. Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library’s programs had concluded for the year. Coulsell noted that she was finishing up the annual Statistical Report due to the State Library, this is a report that notes circulation, internet usage and reports operating expenditures. Coulsell also reported that the Hickory County Health Department would be hosting a collaborative meeting on November 19, 2014 to report on what activities they have been doing for the grant, addition of Wheatland and Weaubleau Schools, Community At Large Assessment for both schools, upcoming events, and sharing of ideas with collaboration partners. Coulsell also presented the Board with a thank-you card from former Board member Doris Frye for attending her recent birthday party.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for October. The balance as of November 10, 2014 was $43,618.72. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. After hearing the Financial Reports for October, Sharon Barrett made the motion to accept the report as presented. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

The Library’s Circulation Report for October was presented by Assistant Manager Tina Davis.

Under President’s Report-Library Board President Hal Geltmacher reported that he was pleased with the efficiency of the molib2go.org website and its improved selection and time limits.

Under Library Association-Association President Sharon Barrett announced the time of the Annual Association meeting it would be December 8, 2014 at 9:45am, just prior to the regular December Library Board meeting. Barrett also appointed Eva Cooper and Gerda Fitts to the nominating committee to appoint the 2015 slate of officers.

Under Friends-Administrator Coulsell reported that the Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale had been successful.

Under Old Business, Administrator Coulsell reported that the roof and front furnace unit had been repaired.

Under New Business, Administrator Coulsell presented the Preliminary 2015 Budget, this budget was reviewed and was tabled until the December 2015 meeting.

Also under New Business, Coulsell requested that the Board approve the following holiday hours, closing at Noon-November 26th, December 24th and December 31st. All day Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. The library will resume regular business hours following each holiday. Sharon Barrett moved to accept the holiday schedule, Gerda Fitts seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment the meeting adjourned at 10:55am.
