The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held November 9, 2016 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 99 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

President, Hal Geltmacher

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Secretary, Judy Baker

Trustee, Shelly Aubuchon

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Sharon Barrett moved to accept the agenda as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried.

The minutes from the October meeting were reviewed. Gerda Fitts moved to approve the minutes. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave the Administrator’s report. Coulsell reported that both the Head Start and the Preschool story hours were in session. Noting that the Friends of the Library had recently donated to the Head Start gently used childrens books for each Head Start student to take home. Coulsell noted the she had received the five iPads purchased through the State Library Digital Grant project, classes on the tablets will begin after the first of the year.. Coulsell also reported that Library volunteer Jamie Hennessy would host a Children’s Craft day on one Saturday of each month, beginning in December. Coulsell also noted that the Library had 73 trick or treaters on Halloween night. Administrator Coulsell also reported that she was finalizing the Annual Statistical Report due to the State Library later this month. Coulsell noted that the Library was in the testing phase of the launch of the Living Language web-based language program. Also soon to be available through the Library’s website will be a subscription to Tumble, a children’s e-book and interactive video service made possible by the Missouri State Library.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for October. The balance as of
November 9, 2016 was $60,023.74 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. After hearing the Financial Reports for October, Judy Baker made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Sharon Barrett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously

Under President’s Report there was none.

Under Library Association-Library Association Sharon Barrett reported that the Library Association had paid the Five Year Continuation fee of $10.50 due to the Director of Revenue.

Under Friends-It was noted that the book sale had been successful.

Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell presented the Board the 2017 Preliminary Budget, this item was tabled until final year-end budget items were received.

Under New Business- Library Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library would be receiving Equalization funds for 2017 in two portions, totaling $3502.71, from the State of Missouri, these funds are intended for improvements both through programs and fixtures of the Library.

Also Under New Business, Vice-President Sharon Barrett noted that the Library has an interested patron who is looking to contribute to the Children’s Programs at the Library, with a main focus on early childhood literacy.

Under New Business Judy Baker moved to set the regular Library Board of Trustees meetings to the third Monday of Each month, beginning December 19, 2016 at 10:00am

Hearing no public comment and having no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:00am.

The Next meeting will be December 19, 2016 at 10:00am
