December 2020 Regular Monthly Meeting

Monday, December 21, 2020

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held December 21, 2020 at 11:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Members present were:

President, Shelly Aubuchon

Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins

Secretary, Judy Baker

Treasurer, Brenda Charles

Trustee, Hal Geltmacher via telephone

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.  Also in attendance was Christian DeLozier, Mike Keith Insurance Agent.

 

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 11:10am.

Hal Geltmacher moved to accept the Agenda as presented; Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried.

Brenda Charles moved to accept the minutes as read; Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried.

Library Administrator Coulsell gave her Administrator’s Report. Coulsell reported that the Library had hosted Santa on Saturday December 5th. Each child receiving a holiday themed book, book bag, and a craft to take home.

Coulsell has submitted the annual Statistical Report due to the State Library on November 15, 2020. Coulsell is investigating programming and virtual programs for 2021. The Library also welcomed a new Volunteer, Lillee Griffith, a local homeschool student who volunteers during the week.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for October.The balance as of December 21, 2020 was $60,679.54. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports for November as presented. Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for October: The Library had 8 new cards during the month of November. with a total circulation of 3,164.  There were 128 checkouts in the Hoopla database. and year-high checkouts in the Children’s Nonfiction category.

Under President’s Report - there was none

Under Library Association - It was noted that the metal for the roof replacement had been received.

Under Friends of the Library - It was noted that the $1.00 bag book sale would conclude December 31, 2020.

Under Old Business - Ernest Jenkins moved to approve a cost of living wage increase to allow for the coming raise in minimum wage, effective January 1, 2021.  Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Administrator Coulsell presented the 2021 Proposed Budget. Brenda Charles moved to accept the 2021 Proposed Budget as presented; Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell offered an update on hotspots, saying the hotspots have arrived. Each hotspot checked out will be subject to a deposit and will provide content-filtered internet access. Coulsell noted that the Little Library Dedication ceremony would be held later in the morning, December 21, 2020.  The second Little Library will be placed in Wheatland. There are to be seven Little Libraries in total, and they will be placed throughout the county with each township’s permission.

Under New Business -  The Library will be closed December 24th through December 26th, noon December 31st and all day January 1st.

Judy Baker moved to make revisions to the OakStar bank accounts, ending in For the library, Account ending in 5572. Current signers Gail Aubuchon, Gerda Fitts, Judy Baker and Hal Geltmacher will be replaced by signers  Gail Aubuchon, Ernest Jenkins, Hal Geltmacher, Judy Baker, Brenda Charles and Stacy Coulsell.

For the library account ending in 5837, current signers Gail Aubuchon,  Gerda Fitts, Judy Baker and Hal Geltmacher will be replaced by Gail Aubuchon, Ernest Jenkins, Hal Geltmacher, Judy Baker, Brenda Charles and Stacy Coulsell.  Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Also Under New Business -  Christian DeLozier, of Mike Keith Insurance, presented a new Library proposal. Judy Baker moved to accept the change to Central Western Insurance Group from united Fire and Casualty and MoPERM. Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried.

Christian DeLozier presented the Library a $150.00 donation to aid in the Little Library project. It will help purchase additional books for children  throughout the county to share.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 12:00pm.

The next meeting will be January 18, 2021 at 11:00am.
