July 2022 Regular Board Meeting

Monday, July 18, 2022

The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held July 18, 2022 at 11:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive,
Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 11:05am.

Members present were:
President, Shelly Aubuchon
Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Secretary, Judy Baker
Trustee, Eleanora Smith
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.
Brenda Charles moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Judy Baker moved to accept the minutes from the June regular meeting as read, Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report. Coulsell continues reading to the Hermitage Summer School students. It was also noted that Sarah Boyer of the University Extension office 4-H is hosting STEM activities on the first and fourth Thursdays of each month. Administrator Coulsell reported that she had booked a folk music concert for October, plus a professional story-teller and a puppet show - official dates will be announced at a later date. Coulsell plans to host three Children’s Craft sessions in October, November and December. Coulsell reported that the water hydrant behind the building was in need of service. Coulsell noted the addition of Susan Nikel to the staff.

The balance as of July 18, 2022 was $98,984.18. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports for June as presented. Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for June: The Library had 15 new cards with a Total Circulation of 3,962.

Under President’s Report - Library Board President extended commendation to Administrator Coulsell for a pleasant atmosphere at the Library despite being short-staffed.

Under Library Association  - The Library awaits repair on outdoor guttering, carpet and the retaining wall on the north side of the building.

Under Friends -  It was noted that the Library had received an anonymous donation from a member of the community.

Under Old Business -  It was discussed that the Library would be purchasing four new computers and a copier with equalization funding.

Under New Business - Library Administrator Coulsell noted that the Annual State Aid Application, County Board Appointment form and Children’s Internet Protection Act form were all due on July 31st. It was noted that Shelly Aubuchon had been reappointed until June 30, 2026.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the next meeting will be August 16, 2022 at 11:00am.
