Tuesday, June 20, 2023
The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held June 20, 2023 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am
Members present were:
President, Shelly Aubuchon
Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins
Secretary, Eleanora Smith
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Trustee, Judy Baker via telephone
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.
Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Brenda Charles moved to accept the minutes from the April Regular Meeting as read, Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly Administrator’s Report. She reported that she had begun reading The BFG by Roald Dahl to the Summer School students at Hermitage, at the end of the session, participating students will receive a themed book-bag including a copy of the book. Administrator Coulsell is investigating some Summer Reading activities for the incoming children. Coulsell reported that in July, the Annual State Aid Application, Library Board Appointment form and Internet Content Filtering forms were due to the State Library. Coulsell reported that the Annual Financial Report had been submitted to the State Auditor’s Office, Hickory County Clerk and Missouri State Library. Coulsell reported that returning performer, Kevin Horner Ventriloquist will return in July.
The balance as of June 20, 2023 was $132, 621.80, Brenda Charles moved to accept the Financial Reports for May as presented, Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for May the Library had 15 new cards with a Total Circulation of 3239 in May.
Under President’s Report-President Shelly Aubuchon extended congratulations to Brenda Charles for being reappointed as Library Board member. Aubuchon also extended commendation to Vice-President Ernest Jenkins for efforts made in replacing Library furniture and fixtures.
Under Library Association-it was reported that both the Annual USDA Payment and Annual Liability Insurance had been paid. The Library Association had also received a donation from the Friends of the Hickory County Library.
Under Friends of the Library-The Friends have tentative plan for a Fall Book Sale in October.
Under Old Business-Library Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library had purchased a raised garden bed for a Memorial Garden in honor of William McBrayer, a dedication date is to be announced.
Also Under Old Business, Library Administrator Coulsell reported that 2023 Equalization funds were now expended, replacing lighting fixtures, upgrading office desks and purchasing new tables for the Community Room.
Under New Business-It was reported that the Library had hosted the University of Missouri in regarding to a program on Rural Missouri, representatives will return to the Library on June 26th and June 27th offering prepaid Visa cards to persons participating.
Hearing no public comment and having no further business, Eleanora Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:40am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The next meeting is to be July 17, 2023 at 10:00am
