MINUTES ARE UNOFFICIAL UNTIL APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT
The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:10 am
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with the following present: President Shelly Aubuchon, Vice-President Ernest Jenkins, Treasurer Brenda Charles, Secretary Eleanora Smith and Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell. Trustee Kevin Boling was absent.
The minutes of the last board meeting, the tax rate board meeting and today’s agenda were read. Brenda Charles made a motion to accept the agenda, Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept last month’s regular meeting minutes, Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept the tax rate board meeting minutes, Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report as follows: the library’s air conditioning system has been repaired and the roof has been fixed. Stacy continues to plan upcoming events such as the annual Themed Halloween trick or treat event, kid friendly as well as family fun. A puzzle swap is being planned for October/November. A scavenger hunt is being planned. Book bingo is ongoing. The staff continues to weed the collection to make room for new items.
Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Administrator’s Report as given. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
President Shelly Aubuchon took a few moments to thank the Board and to reflect on the Board members fulfilling of their roles. She also talked of the courtesy and helpfulness of the library staff.
Under Library Association: the annual Secretary of State Corporation filing is completed and the library is in compliance with Missouri laws.
Under the Friends of the Library: The library is still taking book donations and the Friends are planning an October book sale.
Under Old Business: The parking lot has been sealed, parking spaces striped and repair has been made to the parking bumpers.
Under New Business: Due to rising insurance costs, a transfer of funds will be discussed in the near future. For 2027 year, a return engagement by Glynnis Brooks, a professional period costume actress and drama teacher, is being planned.
Video checkouts, adult non-fiction, interlibrary loans, E-Books were at a high for the year to date. New library cards for August were reported at 19 new cards with a total of 3,423 library services used.
The balance as of September 21, 2026 was $82,468.64. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
The next meeting is to be on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 10:00am
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Brenda Charles moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
