September 2019 Regular Board Meeting

Monday, September 23, 2019
The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held September 23, 2019 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:05am.
Members present were:

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.
After reviewing the agenda Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented, Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
After reviewing the minutes from the August Annual meeting, Gerda Fitts moved to accept the minutes as read. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
After reviewing the minutes from the August Regular meeting Judy Baker moved to accept the minutes as read. Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report. Coulsell reported she had received confirmation from the Hickory County Clerk and the State Auditor’s office that they had accepted the tax rate as voted on in August. She reported that Preschool Story Hour will resume in October. She will investigate working with the new OACAC Head Start Facility in October as well.
Coulsell reported that Crafts will Chef Jamie has resumed, having a program on September 14, 2019. Coulsell noted that a new class/group will begin September 30, 2019, when resident Carrie Morgan will begin a Fiber Arts Group, encompassing knitting and crochet arts. and hopes to be an ongoing class. Bill Arnold’s Summer Basic Computer classes are coming to a close.
She noted that the Art Exhibit of the Mills of Southwest Missouri is still on display and would last until the end of the month of September. Coulsell reported that the Library will provide the equipment for the movie showing on the Square in September and for the Halloween Town held at Pickering Park in October.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for August. The balance as of September 23, 2019 was $50,695.02 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for August the Library had 34 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 4336. A noted increase in Video material checkouts. The Library increased the limit to five video items per household. Noting a year high in Total Circulation.
Under President’s Report-there was none.
Under Library Association Report-Traci Brown moved to extend bidding opportunity on the Library Roof to October 31, 2019 to include the request from bid to the Polk County region to be advertised in the Bolivar Herald Free Press. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Under Friends of the Library-It was noted that Guitarist Jerry Barlow will return on November 2, 2019; his performance follows the Friends of the Library Fundraiser dinner at the McCarty Senior Center from 11:00am until 1:00pm. The dinner will be chicken, mashed potatoes, sides and dessert. Price of the meal will be $12.00 per person.
Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell noted that four new computers had been installed and were in use by the public in the front lobby.
Also Under Old Business, Gerda Fitts make the announcement that she will resign from the Library Board in December 2019.
Under New Business Shelly Aubuchon moved to approve the request to be closed on October 1, 2019 for a Staff Professional Development Day. The Library staff is to receive training on a new automation system. Also Under New Business Administrator Coulsell noted that the Library will extend regular hours on October 31, 2019 to host trick-or-treaters.
Also Under New Business Administrator Stacy Coulsell reported that she is considering a project that will incorporate all four schools and install four Little Libraries in four of the Townships in Hickory County. This is a project that is to be completed in the Spring of 2020.
The next meeting is to be October 21, 2019
