Monday, April 17, 2023
The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held April 17, 2023 at 10 am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:10am.
Members present were:
President, Shelly Aubuchon
Secretary, Eleanora Smith
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Trustee, Judy Baker
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins was absent. Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.
Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Judy Baker moved to accept the minutes from the March Regular Meeting as read: Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly Administrator’s Report. She reported that Story Hour with Hermitage Preschool continued. Coulsell reported that the Friends of the Library would be providing a crafting session during the Summer with the Kids Eat Free program the Hickory County Farmers Market. Coulsell also reported that a group of Library volunteers are beginning to start a Reading Buddies program; this will involve older students mentoring younger early readers, more information to be released later. Coulsell reported that the Library will be receiving a donation of approximately 200 books from various independent publishers. New library card holder and also new Hickory County resident Lisa Papi has headed up this project. These items will be presented in a new display rack within the Library building.
The balance as of April 17, 2023 was $163,478.62. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports for March as presented. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for March: The Library had 7 new cards with a Total Circulation of 3911 in March.
Under President’s Report - Library Board President extended commendation to the Friends of the Library group for their continued efforts with the Book Sale, aiding in the payment of the Library’s liability insurance. She also lauded their continued presence within the Community. providing a positive reflection of the Hickory County Library. Aubuchon also extended a special thank you to the Hermitage R-IV High School students for aiding in this year’s book sale.
Under Library Association - There was none.
Under Friends - The Friends of the Hickory County Library held a combination bake and book sale during the week of April 10 - 15.
Under Old Business - It was noted that the Library’s new copier had been installed March 22, 2023. Tthe old copier had been declared salvaged material and been donated to the Whispering Willows Senior Dog Sanctuary.
Also Under Old Business - The Library is continuing to explore grant opportunities made possible by the Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission.
Under New Business - Library Administrator Coulsell presented the First Quarter Financial Report. After reviewing the report, Judy Baker moved to accept the First Quarter Financial Report as presented; Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Hearing no public comment and having no further business, Eleanora Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:50am, Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
