Monday, April 15, 2024

The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held April 15, 2024 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:02am

Members present were:

Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Judy Baker moved to accept the minutes as read, Brenda Charles, seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.  Coulsell reported that the Preschool Story Hour with the Hermitage Preschool continued.  Coulsell noted that the Library was hosting a Reading Incentive punch card event to last through April 15th.  Coulsell reported that one child had completed the incentive so far, Preston Graves, he had received a Scrabble game, a new book of his choice, and a $10.00 Barnes & Noble gift card.  Preston was featured on the Library’s Facebook page and in the Index.  Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library has a slate of events scheduled and several more events in the planning stages.  Coulsell will continue on with Preschool Story Hour, she will offer an in house Story Hour through the summer and participate with the Hermitage Summer Students in a reading program.  Ventriloquist Doug Mickan will perform in June, and Parasol Puppets will return in July for summer programs.  More program dates will be announced.

The balance as of April 15, 2024 was $165,730.36.  Brenda Charles moved to accept the Financial Reports for March as presented, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Eleanora Smith moved to transfer $1500.00 from the Library’s SuperSaver Account to the Library Association General Fund.  Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for March, the Library had 15 new cards with a Total Circulation of 3054 in March.

Under President’s Report – the renewed enthusiasm of the Friends of the Library was noted with the set up and book sale set for this week and greatly appreciated

Under Library Association-it was noted that the annual insurance payment and USDA payments were due in May.

Under Old Business—Chad Russell from Foundation Recovery Systems presented a bid and presentation for Foundation/Footing Repair on the exterior of the Library building.  The Library has received two additional bids, this item was tabled until more investigation into this project could be completed.

Also Under Old Business—Library Administrator Coulsell reported that she was compiling information for the Annual State Auditor Report due in June.

Under New Business-Library Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library had purchased two copies of Governor Mike Parson’s book, No Turnin’Back.

Also Under New Business Coulsell presented the First Quarter Balance Report.  After reviewing the report, Brenda Charles made the motion to accept the First Quarter Balance Report as presented, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Eleanora Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 11:00am, Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

The next meeting is to be May 20, 2023 at 10:00am.
