The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on April 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with all present:

Brenda Charles made a motion to accept the Agenda and Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept the March minutes and Kevin Bolling seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report. The parking lot will be patched and sealed and ceiling tiles are being replaced. The library collected and donated eighty-six pounds of food to the Hickory County Cares Food Pantry. The preschool reading program will continue. The themed punch card program will continue as well as the book club. The March puzzle swap was not as well attended as was hoped for, but there is still an interest in it. The puzzle will be rescheduled again in the fall or winter programs. The library is requesting that book donations be held for a time. Stacy Coulsell continues to work on upcoming summer programs. She continues to search for two new homes for “Lil Libraries” to be placed at locations in Hickory County. Plans are still being made for an art exhibit by local artist Catherine Hash, a beginning crochet class by Jody Wheeler, a seed library and perhaps board games, and a scavenger hunt are all in the planning as well. Coulsell has put into motion the installation of a new phone system for the library and a Mango language program which includes American Sign Language is in the planning stages of implementation at the library as well.
Circulation numbers were up from last month as Stacy Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for March. The Library gave out 16 new cards with a Total Circulation of 2,967.
The balance as of April 2025 was $164,950.52. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.
In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon noted the enthusiasm that the volunteers of the Friends of the Library have as they began setting up their book and bake sale and raffles that were to be ongoing this week.
Under Library Association: The Library is officially recognized and reinstated by the state of Missouri as a library.
Under Friends of the Library – The Spring book and bake sale is scheduled for this week from April 16-22.
Under Old Business – Some of the Equalization funds were put towards the updating of the phone system. This is an internet-based system and it is up and running.
Under New Business – The remaining equalization funds are being used to acquire a new literacy computer for the Children’s section.
The first quarter 2025 Hickory County Library Balance Report noting an ending first quarter balance of $164,359 was distributed and submitted to the board. A motion by Brenda Charles was made to accept the report and Ernest Jenkins seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
The annual audit report for the Hickory County Library was distributed as well. A motion was made to accept the annual audit by Ernest Jenkins, Kevin Boling seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously. It was noted that the audit would be forwarded to the State Library as well as to the State Auditor and then it would be sent to Hickory County for their records
The next meeting is to be on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 10:00am
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Shelly Aubuchon moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
