August 2018 Regular Meeting

Monday, August 20, 2018

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held August 20, 2018 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:
President, Hal Geltmacher
Vice-President, Sharon Barrett
Secretary, Judy Baker
Treasurer, Gerda Fitts
Trustee, Shelly Aubuchon
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Gerda Fitts moved to approve the agenda as read. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the minutes as read.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly report.  Coulsell noted that the Preschool and Head Start story hours would resume in September, with the beginning of a new school year.  Coulsell reported that she was investigating additional outreach programming with the Hermitage afterschool program for a weekly Library visit, details to come later.  Coulsell reported that there would be two additional programs, Shawn Christ with Walking Stick Studios would present a children’s nature program later in September and Children’s Author Ralph “Little Eagle” Williston will return in October for another storytelling session, both dates will be announced once scheduling has been set.  The Library had a booth at the previous week’s Farmer’s Market.  Each visit lands at least two library card registrations.  Coulsell reported that she is compiling information for the Annual Statistical Report due in November and will begin planning for the 2019 Fiscal budget for the Library.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for July.  The balance as of August 20, 2018 was $67,069.44 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts.  After hearing the Financial Reports for July. This balance includes memorial deposits in honor of Cora Nadine Allen, donations made on her behalf will purchase new genealogy items. Judy Baker made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Sharon Barrett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for July the Library had 24 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 3701.

Under Library Association-it was noted that the annual corporation filing fee had been registered and paid.

Under President’s report there was none.

Under Friends of the Library-the Friends will host their annual October Book Sale, beginning October 8, 2018 and run for a full week.

Under Old Business—there was none

Under New Business-the Library has received the annual Pro Forma Tax Rate computation.  Sharon Barrett moved to set the Annual Tax Rate hearing to September 10, 2018, with a regular board meeting to follow.  Shelly Aubuchon seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

The next meeting is to be September 10, 2018 at 10:00am

Having no further business and hearing no public comment the meeting adjourned at 11:15am.
