August 2020 Monthly Board Meeting

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held August 17, 2020 at 11:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Members present were:

President Hal Geltmacher via telephone
Vice-President, Shelly Aubuchon
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Secretary, Judy Baker
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Trustee Traci Brown was absent.

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 11:15am.

After reviewing the agenda/ Brenda Charles moved to accept the Agenda as presented, Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Brenda Charles moved to accept the minutes as corrected. Judy Baker seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Coulsell gave her Administrator’s Report. Coulsell reported that she had been conducting in-person Story Hours with the Hermitage Preschool and Head Start groups. These were bi-weekly and monthly occurrences. It is unknown if in-person story hours will continue through the school year due to the pandemic. One in-person program remains: Dianne Moran, professional storyteller, will present "Zerelda James, A History." This program will be told from the viewpoint of the mother of outlaws Frank and Jesse James.This program will be held at the library on Tuesday, Sept.15th at 6:00pm.

Coulsell reported that the Library staff continue to sanitize each item upon return. Coulsell reported that the Library had been closed on July 4th in honor of the holiday and was closed July 11th for carpet cleaning. Coulsell will be purchasing five Little Libraries to be placed in the community.

Coulsell is investigating the purchase of Internet hotspots for checkout in the library. Coulsell is considering future plans for outreach in regard to Halloween and Christmas season library activities.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for June. The balance, as of August 17, 2020 ,was $86017.70. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports for July as presented. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for March and April the Library had 15 new cards during the month of June with a Total Circulation 3890.

Under President’s Report - There was none.

Under Library Association Report - Bids on the roof were received and approved. The Annual Corporate filing is due August 31, 2020.

Under Friends - It was noted that the Friends will tentatively host their annual book sale in October. This may be an outdoor sale.

Under Old Business - Library Tax Rate has been approved and will be sent to the County Clerk to be completed and sent on to State Auditor.

Under New Business - Library to be closed Labor Day, September 7, 2020

Having no further business, Brenda Charles moved to adjourn the meeting at 11:55am.  Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried.

The next meeting will be September 21, 2020 at 11:00am
