The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on August 28, 2025 at   1p.m.  in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 1 p.m.

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with the following present:

Treasurer, Brenda Charles

Eleanora Smith made a motion to accept the Agenda and Kevin Bolling  seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept the July minutes and Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.   The story hour is complete for the time being but should start up again in October.  The Book Bingo program has come to a close and prizes are still be handed out for those that have turned in their Bingo cards.  This program was such a success that plans are being made to offer it again at a future date.  The public bathroom has been repaired.  The library has received a very generous donation of $1,000 from Michael Stock.  A beginning crochet class by Jody Wheeler is being scheduled for September.  An art exhibit by local artist  Catherine Hash is being planned for sometime between the end of September and first week of October.  The library hosted a Daughter of the American Revolution meeting in July and another DAR meeting is being planned for the fall.  The library is still searching for two new homes for “Lil Libraries” to be placed at locations in Hickory County.

New library cards were reported at 14 new cards.  A yearly high was reported for both the video and adult fiction sections along with a high of 1,182 visitors to the library. The total circulation for the month of July was 3,710.

The balance as of August 2025 was $80,752.38. Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.

In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon stated that the circulation reports reflect that the activities and programs offered by Stacy Coulsell and her staff, are covering all the bases in providing valuable services to the community.

Under Library Association:  The Annual Corporation Filing has been submitted and the library is just waiting on the acceptance of the filing.

Under Friends of the Library – The Friends of the Library are still offering for sale, “A Blind Date with a Book”.  Each book comes with treats and a hint of what you might get to read. These are being offered for $10 each while supplies last and would make great gifts.   The  library will be closed on Monday, October 12th for Columbus Day but the Friends of the Library book sale is being scheduled for October 14 through the 17th.

Under Old Business – State Aid Internet Compliance and County Commission appointments have been submitted and terms renewed.

Under New Business – A generous donation of $1,000 from Michael Stock was received. The parking lot was paved by Ransome Jones and the parking lot was striped by Ray Tipton.

The next meeting is to be on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10:00am

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Ernest Jenkins moved to adjourn the meeting at 1:30 pm, Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
