December 2019 Regular Monthly Meeting

Wednesday, December 18, 2019

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held December 18, 2019 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

President Hal Geltmacher
Vice-President, Shelly Aubuchon
Treasurer Gerda Fitts
Secretary Judy Baker
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Trustee Traci Brown was absent.  Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes from the November Regular meeting Gerda Fitts moved to accept the minutes as read.  Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report. She reported that the Preschool Story Hour continued. The Library had hosted Parasol Puppets on Dec. 7 with a Gingerbread Man’s Christmas puppet show; it had a smaller attendance.  Crafts with Chef Jamie and Santa Claus had visited the Library on Dec. 14, 2019.  Children received a book bag and completed a holiday themed craft. Coulsell also reported that the Library was hosting a Food Drive during the month of December.Also during December, the Library was extending an amnesty period, meaning that no late fines would be charges to overdue materials.  The Horticulture program scheduled for December was to be postponed to a later date.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for November. The balance as of December 18, 2019 was $64,247.92. This includes the first portion of 2020 Equalization funds and State Aid Payments from the Missouri State Library, as well as the December tax payments. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented .Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for November the Library had 25 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 3312.  Noting that the Library had been closed for Veteran’s Day and the Thanksgiving holiday and one snow day in November 2019.

 

Under President’s Report -There was none.

Under Library Association - The Association had met earlier that morning to set the lease payment for 2020 for the Hickory County Library District.

Under Friends of the Library - It was noted that the Friends have set the date for the Spring Book Sale to be the week of April 13, 2020.

Under Old Business - Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell submitted the 2020 Proposed Budget for review. Shelly Aubuchon moved to approve a one percent raise to Library employees to be in compliance with the 2020 minimum wage increase. Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried.

Gerda Fitts moved to approve the budget as presented.  Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Also Under Old Business, it was noted that the Library would be closed Dec. 24, 25, and at noon on Dec. 31 and all day New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2020.

Under New Business - It was noted that Library Board member, Gerda Fitts will be resigning from the Board of Trustees. The County Clerk has been notified of this resignation.

The next meeting will be Jan. 13, 2020 at 10 a.m. This date is due to the Martin Luther King Holiday on Jan. 20, 2020.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
