December 2023 Regular Meeting

Monday, December 11, 2023

The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held December 11, 2023 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Vice-President Ernest Jenkins called the meeting to order at 10:00am

Members present were:

President, Shelly Aubuchon via telephone

Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Judy Baker moved to accept the minutes as read, Brenda Charles, seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.  Coulsell reported that the Preschool Story Hour continued.  Administrator Coulsell had been a guest reader during the Skyline Elementary Family Reading Night.  Coulsell reported that the annual Statistical Report was complete and submitted.   Coulsell reported that the Library will be hosting an Amnesty Period from December 1st thru January 3rd, also during this time they will be accepting non-perishable food items in place of overdue fines and fees.  Coulsell noted that the Library had hosted, the StoneLion Puppet Theater on December 7, 2023 with the presentation of T’was, Etc.  Coulsell also reported that the local 4-H group and their advisor, Sarah Boyer are meeting with homeschool students on Tuesday afternoons in the Community Room.  Coulsell also reported that the Library had closed early on November 22, due to power outage.

The balance as of December 11, 2023 was $102,710.14.  Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports for November as presented, Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.   The December balance includes the December county tax collection.

 

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for November the Library had 17 new cards with a Total Circulation of 2955 in November.

Under President’s Report-Library Board President Shelly Aubuchon extended commendations to the Friends of the Library for representing the Library at the Annual Hermitage Christmas Parade and the Annual Pomme De Terre Chamber of Commerce Light the Park.

Under Friends it was noted that the Friends of the Library were also hosting a meeting and their Annual Christmas party on December 11, 2023.

Under Library Association it was noted that the Association’s new storage building was in place.

Under Old Business-Library Administrator presented the 2024 wage scale including a 5.5% wage scale increase to the Library’s hourly employees to be in compliance with the coming increase in minimum wage.  Eleanora Smith moved to accept the wage increase as presented, Brenda Charles, seconds and the motion carries unanimously.

Library Board Vice- President Ernest Jenkins calls for a motion to approve the Presented 2024 wage scale for Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell that includes a 5.5% wage increase to salary.  Brenda Charles makes the motion to approve the wage increase to the Library Administrator’s salary.  Judy Baker seconds, and the motion carries unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the 2024 Proposed Budget.  Judy Baker moved to accept the 2024 Proposed Budget as presented, Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Under New Business-it was noted that new premiums are to be received from Mike Keith Insurance for the contents insurance, this item was tabled until more information was available.

Having no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:45am.

The Next meeting will be January 22, 2023 at 10:00am.
