December 2024 Regular Board Meeting

Thursday, December 12, 2024
The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on December 12,
2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory
County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with those present:

Treasurer, Brenda Charles

Trustee, Kevin Bolling
Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell
Brenda Charles made a motion to accept the Agenda and Ernest Jenkins seconded and
the motion carried unanimously.
Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept the revised November minutes and Brenda
Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.
Coulsell notified the Board that the Food for Fines amnesty program where patrons can
bring in canned goods to replace their fines will continue until January 3, 2025. At this
time there is also a Buy One Get One book sale going on. The preschool reading
program continues. Another event being planned for December is the Candy Cane
theme punch card where a reader can win a Barnes and Noble gift card and a board
game if they get 14 punches on their card. A “Grinch Stole Christmas” program with
reindeer and mitten crafts is to be presented in December as well.
Some upcoming events to watch for in 2025 will be an art exhibit by local artist
Catherine Hash, a beginning crochet class by Jody Wheeler. Mechanical dinosaurs are
being planned for 2026.
The library will be closed December 23-25 for the Christmas holiday.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for November, the Library gave out 13 new
cards with a Total Circulation of 2,792.
The balance as of December 2024 was $45,602.70. Ernest Jenkins moved to accept
the Financial Reports as presented, Kevin Bolling seconded, and the motion was
carried unanimously.
In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon commented on the touching tribute
presented by Stacy Coulsell for Bill Arnold in that he was a very generous man
throughout the community.
Under Friends of the Library – The Friends of the Library took 3rd place in this year’s
Christmas parade and has a display at the Light Up The Lake event in December.
Under Old Business— Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept the cost of living raise
for the library staff, Brenda Charles seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
Eleanora Smith made a motion to accept to finalize and accept the 2025 budget. Ernest
Jenkins seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
Under New Business – Ernest Jenkins made a motion to remove Judy Baker from the
bank signature cards. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion was carried
unanimously. Eleanora Smith made a motion to add Kevin Bolling’s name to the bank
signature cards. Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
The board was reminded to go to the bank and update their signatures on the bank
signature cards.
The next meeting is to be January 27, 2025 at 10:00am (MLK JR Day is January 20th. )
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Brenda Charles moved to
adjourn the meeting at 11:00 am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried
unanimously.
