February 2024 Regular Board Meeting

Monday, February 26, 2024

The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held February 26, 2024 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:06am

Members present were:

President, Shelly Aubuchon via telephone

Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins

Treasurer, Brenda Charles

Secretary. Eleanora Smith

Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell

Trustee, Judy Baker was absent. Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

Brenda Charles moved to accept the Agenda with updates. Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the minutes as read, Brenda Charles, seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.  Coulsell reported that the Preschool Story Hour continued.  Coulsell reported that she had recently completed the Annual Workman’s Compensation audit, also completing the Annual Equalization Report and Athlete and Entertainer Fund report.  Coulsell is investigating new programs for both children and adult audiences.  She noted that the Library will host another round of reading incentives for kids in March.  Coulsell reported that she had ordered some upper level juvenile fiction for the Little Libraries for disbursement. It was noted that the Library had several snow days in January.  Coulsell also noted there was no meeting in January due to inclement weather.

The balance as of February 26, 2024 was $181,570.28.  Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Financial Reports for December and January as presented, Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.   The February balance includes January and February tax collection and an anonymous donation of $1500.00.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for January and December the Library had 4 new cards with a Total Circulation of 2643 in January, noting that the Library was closed for six snow days and three days for holidays.  The Library had 8 new cards in December and a total circulation of 2783.

 

Under President’s Report there was none.

Under Library Association it was noted that the Annual USDA Financial Report had been submitted.

Under Friends of the Library it was noted that the Friends of the Library were hosting two separate raffles, one a hand-carved whimsical house and a patriotic quilt.  Raffle tickets are available in the Library.

Under Old Business it was noted that the Library’s annual workman’s compensation, content and surety bond insurance had been paid in January.  Noting a slight increase in content insurance.

Under New Business-Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell reported that the Library needed to address a structural issue on the northwest side of the building, this item was tabled until more information is available.

Also under New Business. Library Administrator Coulsell discussed the slate of federal holidays that the Library closed, after some discussion Ernest Jenkins moved to be closed President’s Day and Columbus Day in addition to the listing of federal holidays.

Having no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:47am.

The Next meeting will be March 18, 2024 at 10:00am.
