Monday, July 20, 2020

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held July 20, 2020 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Members present were:

President Hal Geltmacher via telephone

Vice-President, Shelly Aubuchon

Treasurer, Brenda Charles

Secretary, Judy Baker

Trustee Traci Brown via telephone

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. Also in attendance was Jim Kalberlough, member of the public.

Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:06 am.

After reviewing the agenda, Brenda Charles moved to accept the Agenda as presented, Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Brenda Charles moved to accept the minutes as read. Traci Brown seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Coulsell gave her Administrator’s Report.  Coulsell reported that she had been conducting in-person Story Hours with the Hermitage Preschool and Head Start groups. These were bi-weekly and monthly occurrences. There will be only one in-person Summer Reading Program, Living Dragon presented by Walking Stick Studios. This program will be held outside the library on July 30th at 6:00 pm.

Coulsell reported that the Library staff continue to sanitize each item upon return. Patrons can now bring their books into the Library. Limits on computers are still in place and family members are still limited, with exceptions.

Coulsell has acquired the Hickory County CARES Act grant application. Coulsell has submitted the Annual State Aid Application, County Commission Board Appointments and the CIPA Compliance form to the Missouri State Library. Coulsell reported that the building had been power washed and the building's carpet was cleaned on July 11, 2020.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for June. The balance as of July 20, 2020 was $101, 953.52. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the Financial Reports for May as presented. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for March and April; the Library had 13 new cards during the month of June with a Total Circulation 3173.

Under President’s Report - Hal Geltmacher discussed Library’s practices. Fpr voter registration he has completed this process and enquired as to whether library staff had received questions regarding this topic.

Under Library Association report  - Bids on the roof were received. Library Association Judy Baker will appoint a committee to investigate best practices.

Under Friends - It was noted that the Library, on behalf of the Friends group, continues to host a $1.00 bag sale. This ends July 31st. The Friends are also slated to host their annual book sale in October.

Under Old Business - Secretary Judy Baker’s Library Board appointment has been renewed and her term will be effective through June 30, 2024.

Under New Business - Administrator Coulsell presented the Second Quarter Balance Report,.Traci Brown moved to accept the report as presented; Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Also Under New Business, Shelly Aubuchon moved to declare five swivel chairs as salvaged material. Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Also Under New Business, the Board discussed going fine-free. This item was tabled.

Judy Baker moved to set the Library Board meeting time to the third Monday of each month at 11:00am Shelly Aubuchon seconded; the motion carried unanimously.

The Board heard public comment from Jim Kalberlough.  Kalberlough introduced himself and noted that he will be seeking a House Representative seat for this region.

Having no further business, Traci Brown moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:50am. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried.

The next meeting will be August 17, 2020 at 11:00am.
