July 2018 Regular Monthly Meeting

Monday, July 16, 2018

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held July 16, 2018 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts
Trustee, Shelly Aubuchon
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda Judy Baker moved to approve the agenda as read. Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes Sharon Barrett moved to accept the minutes as read.  Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly report. Coulsell has been conducting a weekly Story Hour on Thursdays, beginning, June 14, 2018 and ending on August 12, 2018. Currently the students are reading the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and illustrating the chapters that they read. This is a partnership with the Hermitage R-IV School, the Library will host K-2 grade students weekly throughout their summer school session. Longtime staff member, Carolyn Higginbotham will be retiring at the end of July. To date the Library has held three special programs featuring Professional Juggler, Brian Wendling and Ventriloquist Kevin Horner, and Storyteller Professor Farquar. All programs had been well attended. Later in the day, the Library will host Magician Marty Hahne. The Library has also hosted Chef Jamie Hennessy with summer themed crafts beginning in May.The June and July released books from the Book Expo have been added to the Library’s collection.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for June. The balance as of July 16, 2018 was 82473.76 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. After hearing the Financial Reports for May. Judy Baker made the motion to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Gerda Fitts seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for June the Library had 46 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 4048.  Noting year highs in e-book, periodicals, and children’s checkouts.

Under President’s report there was none.

Under Friends of the Library-the Friends will host their annual October Book Sale, beginning October 8, 2018 and run for a full week.

Under Library Association-it was noted that the Annual Corporate filing fee of $15.00 was due into the Secretary of State by August 31, 2018.

Under Old Business- the Hickory County Commissioners have reappointed Shelly Aubuchon’s Library board term until June 30, 2022.

Under New Business, Adminstrator Coulsell presented the Third Quarter Balance Report for 2018.  After reviewing the report, Sharon Barrett moved to approve the report as presented, Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Hearing no public comment and having no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:35am.

The next meeting will be August 20, 2018 at 10:00am
