July 2021 Regular Monthly Meeting

Monday, July 19, 2021

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held July 19, 2021 at 11am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Members present were:
President, Shelly Aubuchon
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Secretary Judy Baker
Trustee, Eleanora Smith
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. Vice-President Ernest Jenkins was absent.
President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 11am.

Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried.
Brenda Charles moved to accept the minutes as read, Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried.

Administrator Coulsell presented her Administrator’s Report. She reported doing in- person story hours with the Hermitage Preschool and Summer School classes until school resumes in August. Coulsell is reading James and the Giant Peach to the older summer school group of students. and varying storybooks to the Preschool.

Coulsell reported that the six weeks of Friday Crafts with Kids had ended, averaging 15 kids per session. The Hickory County Health Department provided supersnacks each week and snacks for the weekends as well.

The Library continues to host a board game giveaway weekly.

Coulsell noted that both the Ventriloquist and the Magician programs were well attended. Each performer had plenty of audience participation.

Coulsell noted that she would resume monthly Crafts in October, November and December.

Administrator Coulsell reported that she had received the Assessed Valuation from the County. She also presented the Financial Reports for June:the balance as of July 19, 2021 was $91,998.56. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports for June as presented. Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for June, and the Library had 19 new cards with a Total Circulation 4568 noting 54 checkouts in the Hoopla database. Coulsell noted that overall circulation of items had year highs in Periodicals, Video, Adult Fiction, Children’s Fiction and Nonfiction. She also noted that all internet wireless hotspots were checked out.

Under President’s Report - There was none.

Under Library Association  - There was none.

Under Friends of the Library - It was noted that the Friends were hosting a Buy One Get One Bag Sale.

Under Old Libraries - Administrator Coulsell said Preston will be the next town to receive placement of a Little Sharing Library, although the wait is due to the building of the pedestal.

Coulsell reported that the Library will be installing new carpet later in the year.

Under New Business - Administrator Coulsell presented the Quarterly Financial Report for Second Quarter 2021. After reviewing the report, Judy Baker moved to accept the report as presented. Brenda Charles seconded, and it carried unanimously.

Also Under New Business - Administrator Coulsell noted that the Library had received the Assessed Valuation from the County.

The Next Meeting will be August 16, 2021 at 11am.

Hearing no public comment and having no further business. Eleanora Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 11:42am. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
