June 17, 2019 Regular Monthly Meeting

Monday, June 17, 2019

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held June 17, 2019 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

Vice-President, Shelly Aubuchon

Treasurer, Gerda Fitts

Trustee, Traci Brown

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. Library Board Secretary Judy Baker was absent.

After reviewing the agenda, Gerda Fitts moved to accept the Agenda as presented, Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes from the April meeting, Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the minutes as read.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her report. Coulsell reported a good turnout with the Patron Appreciation Day held on June 3, 2019, Oak Star had provided popcorn and the Library offered prize drawings for seven items including a Harry Potter book set, Dr. Seuss book set, Lost Hero by Rick Riordan boxed set, four scrabble games, a Rand McNally Road Atlas, and an oversized book bag. The Library was closed on June 10, 2019 in honor of Former Library Administrator Sharon Barrett’s husband Bill Barrett, to honor their many years of service to the Library. She noted that June 14, 2019 had been the first Friday to participate in the Health Department’s Kids Under 18 Eat Free program. The Library will provide a craft and the Health Department will provide a free meal to children in the area. The Library has begun summer programming, hosting Magician Marty Hahne on June 3 and Ventriloquist Kevin Horner on June 27. The Horticulture programs continue as well.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for May. The balance as of July 17, 2019 was $93,339.02. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Traci Brown moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for May. The Library had 24 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 3687.

Under President’s Report - Library Board President Hal Geltmacher discussed the parking lot and the moving of the telephone pedestal in the parking lot for ease of parking.

Under Association report - It was noted that the Library needs to seek bids for the a/c unit and roof in the coming months. Shelly Aubuchon moved to seek bid for air conditioning replacement, parking lot repair and roof repair/replacement.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Under Friends - It was noted that performer Jerry Barlow will return on November 2. This will be a fundraiser dinner for the Friends of the Library. The Friends of the Library have also requested to name the Community Room after the Barrett family. Shelly Aubuchon moved to name the Library Community Room in honor of the Bill and Sharon Barrett family.  A dedication ceremony will be announced at a later date.

Under Old Business - Gerda Fitts will be reapplying for another term on the Library Board. Library Administrator reported that the State Aid Application and Internet Filtering Compliance certifications were complete and would be mailed to the State Library.

Under New Business - It was noted that the Library Board will conduct meetings on the Fourth Thursday of each month beginning in July and ending in September. This change was due to scheduling conflicts.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 11:15am.

The next meeting is to be July 22, 2019 at 10:00am
