June 2021 Regular Monthly Meeting

Monday, June 21, 2021

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held June 21, 2021 at 11:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Members present were:

President, Shelly Aubuchon
Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Trustee, Eleanora Smith
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.  Secretary Judy Baker was absent.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 11:00am.

Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried.

Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the minutes as read; Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried.

Administrator Coulsell presented her Administrator’s Report. Coulsell reported that she was doing in-person story hours with the Hermitage Preschool and Summer School classes until school resumes in August. Coulsell also noted that local resident Lillee Griffith continues to volunteer. Coulsell reported that the ventriloquist program had a full turnout. Administrator Coulsell reported that June 26 will be the last Kids Crafting Session in partnership with the Hickory County Health Department. The Health Department is providing “supersnacks” for each event. She noted that Magician Marty Hahne will be performing in July as a summer event. Coulsell reported that the Library has a new email account. Administrator Coulsell noted that the Library continued to give away board games each week as the result of a weekly drawing. Each child chosen is featured in the Index and on the Library’s Facebook page. Recent winners were Lilee Menzes and Clara Camden.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for April. The balance as of June 21, 2021 was $108,044.95. This reflects the balance of both Library accounts. Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Financial Reports for May as presented. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for April, the Library had 18 new cards with a Total Circulation 3858, noting 63 checkouts in the Hoopla database.  Coulsell noted that overall circulation of items had increased in Periodicals, audiobooks, video and internet usage, noting that all internet wireless hotspots were checked out.

Under President’s Report - President Shelly Aubuchon offered commendation to Board Member Ernest Jenkins and Administrator Coulsell for the project completion of the Little Sharing Library placed in Weaubleau.

Under Library Association-It was noted that the annual USDA payment and annual insurance payment due in May had been submitted and paid.

Under Old Business - The Village of Preston will be the next location for a Little Sharing Library. Interest has been expressed for placement in Galmey and Pittsburg.

Also Under Old Business, the Library reviewed bid applications submitted for carpet installation. After reviewing the bids, Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the bid from Lakeside Carpet Interiors. Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried.

Under New Business - It was noted that the Library will begin observing the Juneteenth Holiday of June 19 in the future as a closing date.

Under Public Comment - Resident Bill McBrayer was present to discuss Library policy and to suggest changes to those policies. The Library Board took those suggestions under advisement.

Having no other business and hearing no other public comment the meeting adjourned at 11:55am.
