March 2019 Regular Board Meeting

Monday, March 18, 2019

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held March 18, 2018 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:10am.

Members present were:

Trustee Traci Brown

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. Vice-President Shelly Aubuchon was absent.  After reviewing the agenda Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented, Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes from the February Regular Meeting and the March Special meeting Judy Baker moved to accept the minutes of the Special Meeting as read.  Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.  Traci Brown moved to accept the minutes of the February regular meeting as read.  Judy Baker seconded and the motion carried, unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her report. It was noted that the Preschool and Head Start Story Hours continued.  Coulsell reported that the Children’s Crafts with Chef Jamie had been held on March 9, 2019.  Coulsell noted that Bill Arnold would have one additional week of SmartPhone/Tablet classes to make up for a snow day in February.  Coulsell reported that Cheri Tippets continued with her Adult Coloring classes, these were held weekly, on Thursdays at 6:00pm.  Coulsell also noted that the Jerry Barlow performance held on March 11th had a good turnout and she was considering an encore performance later in November, 2019.  Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library was requested to take part in the recent Audit of Hickory County, held by the Missouri State Auditor’s office.  Coulsell noted that she had purchased additional book bags for giveaways during the Patron Appreciation day and to be used in conjunction with the Summer Reading program.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for February.  The balance as of March 18, 2019 was $131,405.59 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts, this includes the February tax payment from the Hickory County Treasurer’s office.  After hearing the Financial Reports for February.  Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented.  Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for February the Library had 24 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 3291.  Noting the Library had been closed February 7th February 12th and February 28th for snow and ice.

Under President’s Report there was none.

Under Friends of the Library-It was noted that the Friends of the Library would host a Spring Book Sale the week of April 8, 2019.

Under Old Business the board discussed the use of Equalization funds for 2019.  Items that need to be replaced are four of the public access computers in the front lobby.  Stacy Coulsell will investigate pricing on their replacement.

Under New Business the Board reviewed the training video “What It Means to be A Trustee,”  this is one in a series of Library Board of Trustee training presentations released by the American Library Association, presented to each of the libraries in the state, by the Missouri State Library.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 11:20am

The next meeting is to be April 15, 2019
