Monday, March 15, 2021

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held March 15, 2021 at 11:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

Members present were:

President, Shelly Aubuchon

Secretary, Judy Baker

Trustee, Eleanora Smith

Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.  Vice-President Ernest Jenkins and Treasurer Brenda Charles were absent.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 11:06am.

Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented.  Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried.

Library Administrator Coulsell gave her Administrator’s Report.  Coulsell noted that the Library had been closed five days due to the inclement weather in February.  Coulsell noted that the Library continues to have Lille Griffith as a student volunteer.  Coulsell continues with Preschool and Head Start story hours.  Administrator Coulsell reported that this month will launch the Lucky Library Board Game Drawings, awarding a free board game to children under 18 once per week, while supplies last.  Coulsell noted that the electric bills for both January and February will reflect an increase due to falling temperatures during that time.  Coulsell reported that five of the six Wi-Fi hotspots have been checked out and are currently in circulation.  Administrator Coulsell has received updates on future programming, and at least one program this year will be offered virtually.  Crafts to Go packets will be made available at the Library and the Farmers Market to incoming children.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for February: The balance as  March 15, 2021was $154,273.56. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports for February as presented. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for February. The Library had 12 new cards with a Total Circulation 2993, noting 55 checkouts in the Hoopla database.

Under President’s Report - There was none.

Under Library Association - It was reported that the Library’s roof installation payment had been made.  Administrator Coulsell reported that the annual USDA report and audit had been completed and was submitted by the February 28 deadline.

Under Friends of the Library - Friends of the Library will host their Spring Book Sale the second week in April.  Current book sale prices have resumed to $1.00 per hardback, $0.50 per paperback and $1.00 per DVD & audio books.

Under Old Business - Administrator Coulsell will be attending the April 5, 2021, Cross Timbers City Council meeting to seek approval for placement of a Little Library.

Under New Business  -It was noted that the Annual State Audit Report was due June 30, 2021. Also under New Business, the board discussed new carpeting for the building. Judy Baker moved to advertise for bids for the carpeting of the Library’s main building area beginning April 1, 2021.  Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Hearing no public comment, and having no further business. Judy Baker movedto adjourn the meeting at 11:42am.  Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

The next meeting will be April 19, 2021 at 11:00am.
