Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report. While the preschool reading program seems to be favored, it will continue. The themed punch card program will continue with an opportunity for participants to win a Barnes and Noble Gift card and a board game for obtaining 14 punches on their card. Librarian Alice Munns oversees the book club currently being offered via the library. A puzzle swap is scheduled for Saturday, March 29th. The library is requesting that book donations be held for a time till after the Friends of the Library have their book sale. Summer programs are being looked into by Stacy Coulsell. Stacy continues to search for two new homes for “Lil Libraries” to be placed at locations in Hickory County. A Galmey resident has expressed an interest in one of them hopefully being placed at a business in Galmey for public access. Plans are still being made for an art exhibit by local artist Catherine Hash, a beginning crochet class by Jody Wheeler, a seed library and perhaps board games, and a scavenger hunt are all in the planning as well. Coulsell has put into motion the installation of a new phone system for the library. A Mango language program which includes American Sign Language is in the planning stages of implementation at the library as well.
Coulsell reminded the Board that at this time the library has had four snow days that the library was closed. This would make the numbers in the Circulation Report less than normal for February. The Library gave out 6 new cards with a Total Circulation of 2,633.
The balance as of March 2025 was $174,257.43. Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Eleanora Smith seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.
In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon thanked Stacy Coulsell and the library staff for their continued efforts to bring patrons into the library, stating that she felt the scavenger hunt was a “cool idea”.
Under Library Association: The annual USDA report has been submitted. The Association Audit report is complete and was signed by three of the board members.
Under Friends of the Library – The Spring book and bake sale is scheduled for April 16-22.
Under Old Business – Board members that have not yet signed their bank signature cards were reminded to do so.
Under New Business – The Equalization funds were discussed that they would be put towards the updating of the phone system and to acquiring a new literacy computer for the Children’s section.
The next meeting is to be on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 10:00am
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Brenda Charles moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:55 am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
