March 2026 Regular Meeting
MINUTES ARE UNOFFICIAL UNTIL APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE HICKORY COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT
The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
Vice President, Ernest Jenkins called the meeting to order at 10:00 am
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with the following present: Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins , Treasurer, Brenda Charles Secretary. Eleanora Smith, Trustee, Kevin Bolling and Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell. President, Shelly Aubuchon was absent.
The minutes of the last board meeting and today’s agenda were read. Brenda Charles made a motion to accept the Agenda and the minutes, Kevin Bolling seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report. The preschool story hour continues. There are still free books for kids to be given away. She is working on the worker’s comp audit as well as the equalization report. Stacy is learning and integrating Kanopy (a movie streaming service) available through the library. Mahjong will be presented as a library program in the near future. Stacy hopes to display two local artists (one will be carvings and the other is paintings). She continues to plan other programs as well. Please check with and follow the Hickory County Library Facebook page for upcoming events.
Brenda Charles moved to accept the Administrator’s Report as given. Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
New library cards for February was reported at 6 new cards with a total of 2,691 library services used.
The balance as of March 16, 2026 was $189,502.92. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Kevin Bolling seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
No Preident’s Report was given as Shelly Aubuchon was abent.
Under Library Association: The annual USDA report has been submitted.
Under Friends of the Library – The Spring book and bake sale is scheduled for second week of April and they are currently having another basket raffle.
Under Old Business The Equalization funds were discussed to be put towards the updating of five new computers and perhaps for the new streaming service Kanopy. l
The library is still searching for more new home somewhere at a location in Hickory County, for a “Little Library”. The “Little Library” and the books are provided by the Hickory County Library. This is a book swap type of library. You can take a book or bring a book to swap.
Under New Business –The Association Audit report is complete and was signed by three of the board members.
The next meeting is to be on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10:00am
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Brenda Charles moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:25 am, Kevin Bolling seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
