The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held May 23, 2023 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting order at 10:05am

 

Members present were:
President, Shelly Aubuchon
Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins
Secretary, Eleanora Smith
Treasurer, Brenda Charles
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Trustee Judy Baker was absent.   Attendance was taken via the expense voucher

 

Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Brenda Charles moved to accept the minutes from the April Regular Meeting as read, Eleanora Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell gave her monthly Administrator’s Report. She reported that Story Hour with Hermitage Preschool had completed for the school year.  Coulsell reported that she had been invited to conduct a story hour with the Hermitage Summer School Students, and this year will be reading The BFG by Roald Dahl, with weekly activities to be completed.   Coulsell reported that the Library had a new display of Independent Authors, over two hundred books are in this collection, and this project was headed up by new Library Patron, Lisa Papi. Coulsell noted that the Folk Music Concert that was scheduled for June was cancelled due to the performer’s illness. Coulsell will be scheduling other programs for substitution.

The balance as of May 23, 2023 was $139,825.54.  Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports for April as presented, Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.  .

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for April the Library had 17 new cards with a Total Circulation of 2822 in April.

Under President’s Report-there was none.

Under Library Association-It was noted that the annual USDA and Liability Insurance payments had been made.

Under Friends of the Library-it was noted that the Friends Spring Book and Bake Sale had gone well.

Under Old Business- It was noted that the second portion of Equalization funds had been received, a portion of those funds had been utilized to replace several light fixtures within the building.

Also Under Old Business-Library Administrator Coulsell reported that she was still investigating a grant project through the Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Committee.

Under New Business-President Shelly Aubuchon reported that the Lowman Rose Garden had been renovated by the Master Gardeners Club of Hickory County, adding more roses to the area.

Also Under New Business, Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year of 2022 to the Library Board, this report is also submitted to the County Courthouse, the Missouri State Library and the Missouri State Auditor’s office.  After reviewing the report, Eleanora Smith moved to accept the report as presented.  Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried, unanimously.

Hearing no public comment and having no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:50am

 

The next meeting is to be Monday, June 19, 2023 at 10:00am
