The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on May 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with all present:

Brenda Charles made a motion to accept the Agenda and Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Ernest Jenkins made a motion to accept the April minutes and Kevin Bolling seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.   The new internet-based phone system is up and running.  A 4H exhibit is scheduled between June and July.  New Hot Spots are being considered.  The McReader program is back.  A scavenger hunt with prizes is being scheduled. The Seed Sharing program was a huge success ass the seeds were all gone in three days.  E Books are very popular. As the library has run out of room to store donated books, the library is requesting that book donations be put on hold.   Stacy Coulsell continues to work on upcoming summer programs. She is still searching for two new homes for “Lil Libraries” to be placed at locations in Hickory County. Plans are still being made for an art exhibit by local artist Catherine Hash, a beginning crochet class by Jody WheelerBoard games are in the planning stages as well.

New library cards were at a high for this year at a reported 21 new cards.  There was a Total Circulation of 3,002.

The balance as of May 2025 was $147,129.38. Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Kevin Bolling seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.

In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon noted the creativity that was displayed at the recent Friends of the Library book sale.

Under Library Association:  The annual USDA payment and insurance payment have been made.

Under Friends of the Library – The Spring book and bake sale was a huge success with around $1,500 being raised.

Under Old Business – Donations of $1,000 were earmarked for the insurance.  Eleanora Smith made a motion to transfer these funds to the Library Association Account, Ernest Jenkins seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.

Under New Business – Several library incentive programs are in the works to bring more patrons into the library.  Another puzzle night is being planned and might even become a once-a-month activity.  A Best Sellers adult reading program complete with punch cards and prizes is in the making.  A children’s after work program is also in the planning stages.

The first quarter 2025 Hickory County Library Balance Report noting an ending first quarter balance of $164,359 was distributed and submitted to the board.  A motion by Brenda Charles was made to accept the report and Ernest Jenkins seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.

The next meeting is to be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 10:00am

Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Eleanora Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
