The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held May 18, 2026 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00am.
Members present were:

Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins
Trustee, Kevin Boling
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher. Secretary Eleanora Smith and Treasurer Brenda Charles were absent.
After reviewing the minutes Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the minutes after making a correction. Kevin Boling seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her report. It was noted that the Preschool continued. Coulsell noted that the final 2026 portion of Equalization and State Aid. Coulsell discussed upcoming Summer programs. Coulsell reported that the front lobby, office and genealogy room had received new lighting. Coulsell noted that she will be attending a demonstration of the Kanopy program and the library will soon be adding that electronic resource.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for April. The balance as of May 18, 2026 was $144,990.59 this reflects the balance of both the Library accounts, after hearing the Financial Reports, Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the reports as presented, Kevin Boling seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Administrator Coulsell presented the Library’s circulation Report, there were 13 new cards in April. Noting an upswing in circulation for the year to date. Total circulation for the month was 2943.
Under President’s Report-President Shelly Aubuchon commented that it was refreshing to see so many new books on the New Arrivals and other areas in the Library, with the recent change over from long-time book distributor Baker and Taylor to Ingram Publishing.
Under Library Association it was noted that the annual lease payment had been submitted and the annual insurance payment had been made as well.
Under Friends it was noted that the Spring Book Sale had been a success.
Under Old Business-Administrator Coulsell report that Equalization funds will be utilized to purchase five new computers for the public area and one to replace a Circulation work station.
Under New Business-Administrator Coulsell noted that the Library would host local craftsman, Thomas Schnitz with his collection of model aircraft and watercraft. Local Artist Colleen Roberts will soon have her artwork on display.
Coulsell also reported on the status of upcoming Library programs, Ventriloquist Doug Mickan is set to perform, July 24th, Coulsell is planning a joint puppet show in partnership with Hermitage School, hosting What If puppets of Kansas City, Missouri, and is currently investigating other performers.
Hearing no public comment. Ernest Jenkins moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:32am, Kevin Boling seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The next meeting is to be held, Monday, June 15, 2026 at 10:00am.
