November 2019 Monthly Meeting

Monday, November 18, 2019

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held November 18, 2019 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Members present were:

Stacy Coulsell Library Administrator
Trustee Traci Brown. 

Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda, Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Traci Brown seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes from the October Regular meeting, Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the minutes as read.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report. She reported that the Preschool Story Hour continued. The OACAC Head Start had been utilizing the Library’s meeting space as a location for family interviews and enrollment. The Library welcomed new employee Kathleen Hicks.  Coulsell reported that there would be two more children’s events for the year: O n December 5th the Library would host Parasol Puppets with a Gingerbread Man’s Christmas Puppet Show. December 12th Chef Jamie will host a Christmas for Kids Craft Day, Santa will also be visiting with book bags for the children. Coulsell noted there would be two more installments of the Horticulture program. November’s program will be on Fruit and Nut Trees. Administrator Coulsell will be completing the Public Library Survey, due on November 30, 2019.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for October. The balance as of November 18, 2019 was $42641.65, which includes the first portion of 2020 Equalization funds and State Aid Payments from the Missouri State Library. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for September. The Library had 30 new cards during the month, with a Total Circulation of 4177.  Noting year high circulation in Adult Non-Fiction. The Library has also been officially online with the new Insignia software for the automation/circulation since October 1, 2019.

Under President’s Report - There was none.

Under Library Association - The Association moved to solicit bids from local construction companies regarding the roof. The advertisement for public bids had yielded no result. The annual Library Association meeting was set for December 16, 2019.

Under Friends of the Library - It was noted that the Friends' Fall Fundraiser Dinner with entertainer Jerry Barlow had been well received. There were 94 in total attendance. It was also noted that the Barrett Dedication held on November 16th had also been well attended.

Under Old Business - Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell submitted the 2020 Preliminary Budget for review. This item will be tabled until year end financial information is available.

Under New Business - Christian DeLozier from Mike Keith Insurance presented the 2020 MOPERM Liability Insurance proposal.

Also Under New Business, Administrator Coulsell reported that the Library would be closed on December 24th and 25th and close on December 31st at Noon during the holiday season.

Having no further business and hearing no public comment. the meeting adjourned at 11:35am.
