November 2024 Regular Board Meeting

Monday, November 18, 2024
The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on November 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with those present:

Trustee, Kevin Bolling, absent
Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell
The Library Board welcomed Elizabeth Pearson of the Friends of the Library as she sat in on the meeting.
The agenda was changed to include a presentation by Christian Delozier and Jake Farnsworth of the Mike Keith Insurance Inc in regard to 2025 insurance. Brenda Charles made a motion to accept the revised Agenda and Ernest Jenkins seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the September minutes as read, Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for September, the Library had 6 new cards with a Total Circulation of 3,221.
The balance as of November 2024 was $50,357.87. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.
In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon congratulated Stacy Coulsell and the library staff on a job well done for both the Scooby themed Halloween program and the hosting of the Lindley Creek Band at the McCarty Senior Center. Appreciation was also given to the Friends of the Library for their assistance in this program.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report.
Coulsell notified the Board that the preschool reading program continues, the Halloween program included 150 trick or treaters receiving a book bag with a book and candy. Library staff is still working to get WorldCat set up (a global catalog of library materials. that can be searched for books, music, video, articles and much more at libraries near you). Some upcoming events to watch for will be the Candy Cane theme punch card children’s program along with a fines amnesty program where patrons can bring in canned goods to replace their fines. For 2025, Coulsell is planning another musical performance, an art exhibit by local artist Catherine Hash.
Under Friends of the Library – The Friends of the Library book sale was rescheduled to the spring. In the meantime, there are several raffles the Friends have going on at the library which includes gift baskets of KC Chiefs goodies, a carving by a local artist and a quilt. The Friends will be taking part in this year’s Christmas parade as well as having a display at the Light Up The Lake event in December.
Under Old Business— The preliminary budget was presented.
Under New Business – The December meeting date for the regular board meeting to approve the budget was set for Thursday, December 12th.
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Eleanora Smith moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 am, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The next meeting is to be December 12, 2024 at 10:00am.
