Monday, October 21, 2019

The regular meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held October 21, 2019 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Hal Geltmacher called the meeting to order at 10:05am.

Members present were:
President Hal Geltmacher
Vice-President, Shelly Aubuchon
Treasurer Gerda Fitts
Secretary Judy Baker
Stacy Coulsell, Library Administrator

Trustee Traci Brown.  Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

After reviewing the agenda, Judy Baker moved to accept the Agenda as presented, Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

After reviewing the minutes from the September Regular meeting, Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept the minutes as read.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Administrator’s Report. She reported that Preschool Story Hour had resumed for the school year in October. She will investigate working with the new OACAC Head Start Facility in November as well. Coulsell noted that a new class/group had begun September 30, 2019: Resident Carrie Morgan had begun a Fiber Arts Group, and this encompasses knitting and crochet arts and hopes to be an ongoing class. Coulsell reported that the Library will provide the equipment for the movie showing for the Halloween Town held at Pickering Park in October. The Library will offer extended hours for Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween Night until 9:00pm. Coulsell noted that the Library was hosting a closed group Technology Group meeting once a week for computer training. Coulsell also noted that the Library will be closed in November for Veteran’s Day.

Administrator Coulsell presented the Financial Reports for September. The balance as of October 21, 2019 was $42,623.34. This reflects the balance of both the Library accounts. Judy Baker moved to accept the Financial Reports as presented. Shelly Aubuchon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for September the Library had 34 new cards during the month with a Total Circulation of 3597.  Noting that the Library was closed for Labor Day.

Under President’s Report - There was none.

Under Library Association - Vice-President Hal Geltmacher moved to solicit bids from area construction companies as the advertisement for bids have yielded no result. Judy Baker seconded, and the motion carried.

Under Friend of the Library - It was noted that Guitarist Jerry Barlow will return on November 2, 2019, His performance will follow the Friends of the Library Fundraiser dinner at the McCarty Senior Center from 11:00am until 1:00pm. The dinner will be chicken, mashed potatoes, sides and dessert. Price of the meal will be $12.00 per person.

Under Old Business - Administrator Coulsell reported that the Bill and Sharon Barrett Dedication will be held on November 16 at 2:00pm.  The Friends of the Library and the Library Board will dedicate the Community Room to the couple for their longstanding service.  A reception will follow.

Under New Business - Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the 2019 Third Quarter Balance Report. Shelly Aubuchon moved to accept this report as presented.  Gerda Fitts seconded and the motion carried.

Also Under New Business, Library Administrator presented the Preliminary Budget for 2020.  This item was to be further investigated and was tabled.

The next meeting will be November 18, 2019 at 10:00am

Having no further business and hearing no public comment the meeting adjourned at 10:55am.
