October 2023 Regular Meeting

Monday, October 16, 2023

The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held October 16, 2023 at 10:00am in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.

President Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:04am

Members present were:

President, Shelly Aubuchon

Vice-President, Ernest Jenkins

Treasurer, Brenda Charles

Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell

Secretary, Eleanora Smith and Trustee, Judy Baker were absent. Attendance was taken via the expense voucher.

Brenda Charles moved to accept the Agenda as presented. Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the minutes as read, Brenda Charles, seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her Administrator’s report. Coulsell reported that she had resumed Story Hour with the Hermitage Preschool. Coulsell noted that StoneLion Puppet Theater had performed on Tuesday, October 10^th, they will return in December with the Puppet Show, ‘Twas on December 7^th. Coulsell will be submitting the Annual Statistical report in November.   Coulsell will be attending the Skyline Elementary Family Reading Night on November 30^th as a special guest reader.  Coulsell is also working on two events with the Hermitage and Wheatland schools. Administrator Coulsell continues to finalize the 2024 Fiscal Year Budget.

The balance as of September 18, 2023 was $57,057.43.  Brenda Charles moved to accept the Financial Reports for September as presented, Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for September the Library had 19 new cards with a Total Circulation of 3044 in September.

Under President’s Report-Library Board President Shelly Aubuchon suggested that the Library look into opportunities for outreach within our local retirement home and additional community partnerships.

Under Library Association-it was noted that an additional storage building will be purchased.

Under Friends of the Library—The Friends had held their annual fall book sale during the week of October 9, 2023.

Under Old Business-It was noted that the McBrayer Memorial dedication will be held in conjunction with the November Regular Library Board meeting.

Also under Old Business, the Library will be placing one of the Little Libraries in Preston, in November.

Under New Business-Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented the Third Quarter Fiscal Balance Report, Ernest Jenkins moved to approve the report as presented, Brenda Charles seconded and the motion carried unanimously

Administrator Coulsell presented a list of Holiday closures-The Library will be closed, November 10^th in honor of Veterans Day, The Library will be closing at Noon, November 22^nd and all Day November 23^rd in honor of Thanksgiving, and Closed December 24^th, and 25^th.

Hearing no public comment and having no further business, Ernest Jenkins moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:40am, Brenda Charles seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

The Next Meeting will be November 20, 2023 at 10:00am.
