The Regular Meeting of the Hickory County Library Board was held on October 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hickory County Library Community Room, at the Hickory County Library, 18376 New Hermitage Drive, Hermitage, Missouri, 65668.
President, Shelly Aubuchon called the meeting to order at 10:00 am
Attendance was taken via the expense voucher with those present:

Library Administrator, Stacy Coulsell
Ernest Jenkins moved to accept the September minutes as read, Kevin Bolling seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Coulsell presented the Circulation Report for September, the Library had 14 new cards with a Total Circulation of 2,952.
The balance as of October, 2024 was $66,732.55. Eleanora Smith moved to accept the
Financial Reports as presented, Kevin Bolling seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
In the President’s Report, Shelly Aubuchon congratulated Ernest Jenkins on his recent Honor Flight. She thanked him for his service to his country and to the Hickory County Library Board. She was grateful for the many unseen tasks that he performs for the library that are above and beyond his duties on the Library Board. Shelly also praised Stacy Coulsell for the library’s numerous outreach programs. She noted how Stacy was continually coming up with new activities, new ways to engage patrons in interesting ways, to bring their attention to the many things the library has to offer the public.
Library Administrator Stacy Coulsell presented her monthly Administrator’s Report. Coulsell notified the Board that the library has two new volunteers: Mare Leary and Rebecca Ralls. She mentioned that she was working to place a little library with the
Pittsburg’s Community Center. Library staff is still working to get WorldCat set up (a global catalog of library materials. that can be searched for books, music, video, articles and much more at libraries near you). The Board was reminded that on Thursday, October 31st from 5-8 pm on Halloween Night, Library staff will be handing out treat bags and offering extended hours to visit with area Trick or Treaters. Other future outreach programs include Saturday, November 16th from 5-6:30 pm the library will be hosting the Lindley Creek Band. The Library in partnership with the McCarty Senior Center and the Hickory County Friends of the Library will offer a coffee and dessert bar as well as an evening of Live Musical Entertainment.
Under Friends of the Library – The Friends of the Library book sale for October was cancelled. They have rescheduled for in the spring. In the meantime, there are gift baskets of goodies up for raffle that can be seen at the library. The Friends will be taking part in this year’s Christmas parade as well as having a display at the Light Up The Lake event in December.
Under Old Business— The Equalization funds were spent on a new computer, as well as a magnetic sand table, a new literacy station and a rug for the Kid’s Corner.
Under New Business – The Third Quarter Balance Report and the Preliminary Budget Report were presented. Kevin Bolling moved to accept these reports as presented and Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. In another note, the library will be closed on Monday, November 11th for Veteran’s Day, and from Noon on Wednesday, November 27th through 6:00pm on Thursday, November 28th in observation of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Having no further business and hearing no public comment, Brenda Charles moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:50 am, and Ernest Jenkins seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The next meeting is to be November 18, 2024 at 10:00am.
